Curious Fools {read} ©1997 Gotee Records
Back when I discovered this band, they played a side stage at Cornerstone '95. There was a swagger in Steven Murray's
stage presence and vocals that definitely matched what was heard on their first disc. There was a slightly psychedelic feel
to their modern rock sound before, but Read is more polished with an alternative radio friendly vibe throughout. Standout
tracks include (You're) Dangerous, Love (Is Believing), Gold, and Pull, which has a 3/8 rhythm that is quite a jam in and
of itself. The disc ends with a cover of the blues song "Murder" by Moby Grape. Vocally, Murray reminds me a little of Bono
at times, but at the same time commanding. The disc clocks over an hour, and it's worth every minute. You will most likely
find this in the used section or bargain bins somewhere. It deserved a better shelf life and distribution. It's too bad these
guys aren't around anymore. 3 releases and you're out, I guess.
