Keeping the tradition of gospel-blues rock vibrant and "down home" is the Maylee Thomas Band. Deep from the
heart of Texas comes Maylee's fifth album, "Revelations", and it is her sultry, yet slightly raspy vocals that won
me over. This band has all of the components of southern fried gospel blues with all of the fixin's.
The production is first rate for an independent release, and the supporting band aptly fills the gap behind her vocals.
She is a powerhouse and the musicians are kicking down the walls.
Impressive is the unashamed reliance in our God and King in the lyricism. The fact that she sings with such conviction
is prevalent throughout. I can imagine being at an outdoor festival and hearing her rock the main stage.
Take Bonnie Raitt and Ashley Cleveland mixed in a southern Texas stew, and you are close to Maylee Thomas voice. There
are no clunkers on this disc either, as usually gospel blues albums go. My favorite track is "Tell Me." Maybe it's
the nature of the beast. Good soulful music tends to draw the "cream of the crop" musicians.
