LDL (Lies Damned Lies)
After Virtue
©2006 Sticky Music
I was attempting to think of one word to describe the music of LDL, which Lies Damned Lies now goes by. The word sublime
came to mind, as being "so awe-inspiringly beautiful to seem almost heavenly". With each release by this Scottish
group, I am drawn more into a mindset of spiritual renewal. They are an honest, ethereal band of three members that work hard
to make their craft seem effortless. They use simple and spacious instrumentation linked to lyricism that reaches toward the
eternal, yet grounded in the mundane.
Favorite songs include "We Bring You Flowers", "Glorious Land", "I'd Make It Up", and "Where
Does The Love Go?" This is not to say that the rest of the album is less than the others, for a fluid melancholy and
graceful dance flows in and out of the seams.
I highly recommend this band to anyone seeking to discover something sublime, beyond the trite and commonplace offerings
of much within the realm of "Christian" music...something to do with marketing I think. These days, I am more drawn
to music over the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and with good reason.
