Honeygene
A beautiful place to get lost

You have to admire the homegrown vibe of this father-daughter musical match from London. There is a cohesive element
to this pop/acoustic/alternative/blues project that is evident throughout "A beautiful place to get lost". This
is their first project, and you can imagine this in a pub or coffeehouse.
Both Charlie, and dad, Phil Honey-jones share vocal duties seamlessly weaving back and forth over simple tasteful guitar
licks. "City Lights" and "Restless" carry elements of offbeat Latin styling. "Red Roses" has
a sweet minor/major melodic line that is supported by some nice rhythmic guitar interlaced with beautiful picking. "Blue
Heaven" has an undercurrent of rhythmic guitar effects with the acoustic always on top.
There are some other gems here worth mentioning. "Shells My Love" has a haunting background vocal that you
can get lost in. The blues-flavored "Only 17" and "King Of Calamity" 'cook' for acoustic songs, with
strong guitar behind it all.
There is room to grow for Honeygene. I'm looking forward to hearing more from father/daughter project in the future.
