These guys definitely are trying strong to advertise themselves. Their publicity flyer includes highlights of achievements, U.S. touring,
key markets promoted to, and a radio/internet promo that is impressive. The packaging is cool too. The music, however, left something to be desired. No one likes labels in this day and age, but Hey Heidi-Rae’s sound
is all too familiar.
With the flood of other post-hardcore or indie/emo bands out there, you would think these bands would grow
tired of this particular sound. Don’t misunderstand what I’m saying here. They do the post-hardcore sound admirably, but this is definitely lacking a creatively
unique style. You can turn
on any of the corporate-owned alternative rock stations across the country and hear the same type of bands being promoted
over the airwaves. The
same goes for Fuse TV and anything resembling music on either MTV channel. There is little variety in radio, video, and the music store promotion circles currently.
I just honestly wish these young artists/bands would develop an appreciation for music that went back farther
than the current flavor of what is now post-hardcore. Variety matters. They have the potential to grow. Add one click for packaging and the promotional flyer.
