Since 1979, I, my brothers, and many friends have attended several
Christian Rock festivals...as well as going to local concerts, buying massive amounts of albums, reading magazines, taking
pictures, shooting video, interviewing artists, surfing the websites, and everything else related to this growing underground
sub-culture.
Join us as we travel with our crews to the Jesus Festivals to Creation to
Kingdom Bound to Cornerstone...hooking up with the likes of Larry Norman, Rez Band, Daniel Amos, The 77s, LSU, Charlie Peacock,
Vector, Kemper Crabb, Hoi Polloi, Jacob's Trouble, Circle Of Dust, Squad 5-0, and other luminaries.
By the grace of God Almighty, I was able to camp out at 3 Jesus Festivals
with 24 different people between 1979 and 1981. From there, it was the Creation Festivals from 1984 to 1986, where I
attended with another 2 dozen friends and relatives.
1987 to 1997 saw me with several different camping crews at Kingdom Bound in New
York...and at the famous Cornerstone Festivals in Illinois. We started out with a van and 4 people in 1987 cruising
to the JPUSA event, eventually getting up to 31 campers in 1995. By that time, we had a circus tent, a complete kitchen,
furniture, shower, campers, and host of other amenities that made the week-long adventures a huge annual event...traveling
all the way from New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Most of the folks in our C-Stone campsite were musicians and in bands (Burning Icons,
Hidden Treasure, Harry Gore + the Measles), so we took all of our equipment and played at the campsite and on the smaller
stages of the fests. We ate the best food, had fantastic worship, experienced unforgettable relationships, and soaked
in the awesome community that JPUSA enabled.
In the 18 years from '79 to '97, I went to 21 festivals with 106 different individuals.
Thankfully, we EXPERIENCED the ONE, TRUE GOD, took many photos, videotaped dozens of C-Stone concerts, interviewed many artists,
and had a great, historical time in the process.
