Of course, the tree of Christian Rock is rooted in many people, movements, styles, and other factors of Western Civilization
and America's history that contributed to CR's existence. One can go back to colonial times to trace the roots of American
Church music, Folk, Gospel, Blues, Jazz, and other key ingredients that eventually led to Rock 'n Roll and CR. Of course,
the Christian Pentecostal Movement has had much influence on the entire scene.
Magazines
Believers within the Jesus Movement recognized the roots of Gospel Music in the formation of Rock and Roll, had the vision
to grab hold of the new medium, and allowed the Spirit to take them to new places. The result was a revolution within
the modern music culture, first in the West, and then throughout the earth.
The history of Christian Rock Music provides the annals of modern music with a fascinating story.
Starting around 1970, Christian Rock has since grown into a giant sub-culture of millions of fans across the planet...fans
who support a billion-dollar industry that includes music, books, videos, concerts, tours, festivals, conferences, college
courses, and other Christian elements of the Information Age.
Festivals
The fusion of the Christian Bible and Rock music was bound to be volatile, especially in America, and enemies of God
Rock and the Jesus Movement immediately responded against the changes. Christian rockers found themselves in the proverbial
spot - between a rock and a hard place...rejected by both of the cultures they attemped to merge - the Church and Rock music.
